Pericles Redux
The VCPA has co-produced the remounting of the award-winning
production of Shakespeare’s Pericles directed by John Framanesh-Bocca.
This production is currently performing at the Edinburg Festival.
Man of La Mancha (LA TIMES’ “Critics Pick” 2008)
In Spring 2008 the VCPA performed a two-person version of Man of La
Mancha set in the recreation room of a VA mental ward. That production
was the LA TIMES “critics pick” and now is being slated for a remounting
to go to China!
SANCTUARY (LA WEEKLY’S “Pick of the Week” 2008)
Had its North American premiere at the VCPA, directed by Navy veteran
Eric Tucker. With rave reviews and sold out houses, Sanctuary has been
nominated for both Ovation awards and was LA WEEKLY’s PICK OF
THE WEEK. Watch for details of a possible re-mounting!
SHAKESPEARE AT THE BANDSHELL
Co-produced with LAAVAA (Los Angeles Area Veteran’s Arts Alliance),
and the West LA Neighborhood Council. The VCPA and LAAVAA
conduct a Shakespeare Conservatory that is free to military veterans. After
the Conservatory these veterans are then mentored by professional actors
and perform in two productions of outdoor Shakespeare. The VCPA also
conducts a summer theatre camp for K-8 kids, veterans children receive
automatic scholarships.
